I'm a firm believer in short(fish) blog posts, so I decided to split my birthday bash into two posts- one focusing on the why/how, this one will be focused on the what and where!
Because my birthday is on January 2nd, I usually get all of New Year's Eve leftovers and kinda grumble about it, but for my 30th I decided to roll with it and tied in NYE to make a long weekend celebration! Because we had a few days in town I tried to hit some of my then-favorites in Los Cabos.

I always try to stop by Flora's before dropping visitors off at the airport, my birthday trip was no exception!
First stop: Cabo Escape Cruise. Cabo Escape is seriously one of my biggest go-to's here in Los Cabos, even today over two years later. They have everything: food, drinks, "el arco" views, dancing, games, and– in this case– whale watching! Some of the other cruises are geared toward snorkeling and they also have a sunset cruise (and sundown- geared to PARTY!!!). For my birthday we did the morning whale watching cruise. Cabo Escape always has unlimited food and drink, but I didn't realize the morning cruise included alcohol. It was a pleasant surprise as I'll generally never say no to a mimosa.
Next up: Fiesta Americana & Mango Deck for New Year's Eve! For the "long weekend" my friends and I got to stay in a local hotel Fiesta Americana. Right on the ocean, multiple pools– really everything you need in a hotel when you're looking for some R&R. New Year's Eve day we enjoyed the pool then that night got ready and headed to Mango Deck- a bar and restaurant right on Medano beach. For New Year's they do a HUGE firework show on the beach– I had never seen it, so thought it would be perfect for my birthday weekend! It did not disappoint. In 2015 I did a Cabo Escape cruise and saw the show from the ocean- I'll post about it some other time because you can really see how spectacular it is from the water!
And finally: Sunset Mona Lisa for the best sunsets in town! In Cabo we are lucky enough to watch the sun rise over the ocean, but for Sunsets you have to go to Todo Santos to see the real show. If you're in Cabo and want to see something more than just the beautiful colors in the sky– Sunset Mona Lisa offers the perfect alternative, showcasing the sun setting over the land's end mountains. They have a great bar with huge, expansive windows or you can sit out on their Tattinger Terrace and sip some bubbly to enjoy the view (if you're not dining in their outdoor restaurant, which has sunset views pretty much anywhere).
Since then I have spent 2 more birthdays in Cabo and feeling very, very lucky to call this place my home.
